A major telecommunications company hired Danella to install fiber optic cables throughout an Army base in Fairfax County, Virginia. The job also required installing main line communication systems to soldiers’ homes around the base.
Project Details
- An experienced team consisting of 10 employees on two different crews. For nearly five decades, Danella has maintained experienced and highly-trained workers to service telecommunications and electric utility customers. By conducting background checks on employees in advance of specific job requirements, Danella is able to respond more efficiently and professionally when background checks are requested.
- Experienced and knowledgeable leadership. Crew leaders are traditionally long-term Danella employees who have learned the service construction business from the ground up.
- Sophisticated equipment. With the increased difficulty and costs associated with the installation of new duct systems, rodding has become a best-cost option to provide pathways from Point A to Point B for customers. Danella uses cutting-edge equipment that provides both the strength and the power to complete extensive fiber optic cable installations required for projects like the military base.
Unique Challenges
Due to the tight security at the Army facility, the project required thorough background checks on all Danella employees. Danella had to submit the names of all crew members two weeks prior to starting the work, and guarantee that the job could be completed within a two-week time frame. “Our guys are always efficient, we adhere to strict safety standards, and we are able to meet those critical deadlines,” said Travis Walter, Safety Manager for Danella Construction Corporation of VA. “Even with the need for extensive background checks – which our competition can’t always provide on a fast turnaround – we are still able to meet tight deadlines and complete projects like this on time. If it requires working overtime, that’s what our guys would do. With our rodding work, our crews know what they have to have before starting the work, and they all go out properly equipped to do the job. They are not left short-handed on the job, and that’s one of Danella’s strengths.”
