Danella Construction Corporation of PA welcomes new employee, Matt Capozzi to the team as a project manager. Starting in early September, Matt has already begun to make a positive impact here at Danella and we are looking forward to knowing him better.

Can you tell us a little bit about your background? I’ve spent my entire 10-year career on project-based construction, serving in an accounting, finance and project management role for gas, oil and restoration projects across 10 states. I attended Gwynedd Mercy University for my Bachelor’s degree, George Washington University for my Masters Certification in Project Management and I am current testing to be a Certified Managerial Accountant through the IMA. I am married to my wonderful wife Denna and we have two daughters, Siena (3 years) and Kinsley (2 months).

What are three traits that define you? Problem solving, passionate, motivated

What did you want to be when you were a kid? I think growing up in the 80’s and 90’s I definitely wanted to be an astronaut. I admired their job, had pride in what our country had achieved and also wondered what else was out there beyond our horizon.

What compelled you into your field of work? I came back from serving in the military and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I began working on a tie-in crew in Eagle, PA because some family members did it. I remember thinking how crazy it was working on gas lines. Everyone told me it would “get in your blood” and it did. I love the work ethic of the people in construction.

img_5160Before your work here at Danella what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had? Traveling on pipelines across the country working 6-7 days a week was the most challenging but working as a medic in the Air Force was really interesting. I never felt “called” to the healthcare field but taking care of active duty men and women serving our country and retired vets was an amazing opportunity. I am very thankful so many people volunteer to risk their lives and preserve our freedom.

What is your proudest moment within your career? The first day I got a paycheck when I was about 14. I was making $7 an hour and working 40 hours per week. I remember opening the envelope and thinking my check would be for $280 and I was rich. The problem was the check wasn’t for that much. I marched right into the boss’s office and said my check is wrong. My father (my boss) laughed and educated me on taxes. It was something I will never forget. As much as I don’t want to pay taxes, I am proud that I can.

For you, what are three words that describe Danella? I would say we’re progressive, resilient, and proud.
