Though our streets may be a little less congested right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is still incredibly important to pay attention while driving to ensure everyone gets home safe. The attention that you pay to driving can save lives and plays an important role in keeping everyone in the infrastructure field safe, especially those working in congested highway work zones.
At Danella, we consider the safety of our employees one of our top priorities and emphasize work zone safety, proper barricades, and notification of all work zones to our employees and to the general public. We join in encouraging “Safe Work Zones for All,” the National Work Zone Awareness Week theme for 2020.
From April 20 to April 24, join our industry as we bring awareness to work zone safety. “We Can Do It!” by paying attention to our roadways, work zones, and other drivers.
Recent statistics were released from the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse in 2018 and revealed that a staggering 754 work zone fatalities occurred. Of those deaths, 124 were workers. That number is startling for many and is why Danella, along with thousands of other organizations, are working together to spread the important message about work zone safety.
One simple way for you to show your appreciation and support for all work zone workers is to “Go Orange” this year on April 22. Wear orange to remember those who have been killed in work zones and to show your support of roadway safety. Post a photo on social media and use #GoOrangeDay and #Orange4Safety to show off your orange.
We encourage you to learn more about work zone awareness, to be mindful while driving, and to “Go Orange.” Further information from the National Work Zone Awareness Week can be found by clicking here.
